For this modest summer home away from their big city house our clients wanted to have the possibility for spending time by one of the most beautiful fjord in western Norway. Also they desired ability to entertain both family and friends. Designed on three levels this small house focuses on its relation to the light and the view of this most magnificent setting. The house is oriented to maximize sun exposure while providing private outdoor spaces to enjoy the sun and the view.
The roof terrace provides a very generous outdoor space in direct contact with the elements and an expansive view of the fjord and the mountains. Light and open an interior room with the view, acts as a second gathering space for the house. It also at the culmination of stair shaft which acts as a through house stack ventilation. This cools the whole house naturally in the summer.
Ground floor contains the main entry area flanked by the living, kitchen and dining zones to the left and the private realm of main bedroom and bath to the right.
The lower level contains separate sleeping rooms, as well as utility and a full bathroom.
