Interior for a chiropractic clinic and art gallery
Minneapolis, Minnesota
Clients: Dr. Kari Boudreau + Dr. Lori Pottebaum
Size:     80 m2

The genesis of this project is placed in the desire of the client to marry the art and science of chiropractic practice. Desire to produce a soothing and inspirational space became a major guiding issue. Inspired by the challenge we had to respond to existing conditions such as a very tight budget and a raw space. The final figures showed a significant amount (more than 20%) of saving in construction costs over regional average for the type. The goal was to create an inspired environment conducive to both practice of chiropractic as well as the exhibition of fine arts.

Diagnosing and healing through touch is the foundation of chiropractic practice. The tactile fabric walls, then, become an aesthetic in concert with the function of the space. Fabric was chosen for its tactile and visceral qualities as well as its ease of installation and cleaning, its durability, elasticity, translucency, and affordability. The stretched fabric provides enough privacy while allowing natural and electric light to flow throughout the enclosed spaces. The resulting space is unique and engaging while calming and soothing.
